I have always been a supportive and intuitive person. The ability to sense when people need support and need space is something that comes to me naturally. From a young age, I have been drawn to support pregnant and birthing parents. My great grandmother recognized this part of my nature when I was young. Other people saw it too, and encouraged me to continue holding space, caring for, and honoring birthing parents, partners, and babies. When I realized there was a profession that allowed me to do this I was INSTANTLY interested and pursued it!
My personal birth/postpartum experiences include:
I trained locally with Bastyr/Simkin center as a doula and have been mentored by doulas with over 40 yrs experience combined. I am a board member of PALS ( Pacific Association of Labor Support) and I am in the process of becoming a child birth educator and a PEPS group leader as well.
I attend ALL births, home, birth center or hospital. I support ALL families, regardless of age, race gender or family structure. I have experience with Co sleeping, Breastfeeding special needs babies, IVF, single parents, teen parents, medicated/epidural, unmedicated/natural birth, water birth, domestic violence and advanced maternal age.
Before I became a Doula, I……….
